This helps students focus on positive behaviors of others. The Positive Action form is a form that allows students or teachers to share out when they see someone else doing something good. Having these positive interactions help students feel safe and wanted in your classroom, which in turn often leads to them working harder and learning more. They create powerful bonds and bring students and teachers together. If you've never taken the time to record some of these good notices, I encourage you to start.

I may slip it quietly onto a student's desk, just to let them know that I've seen and appreciated what they are doing. Sometimes I mail a copy home to surprise mom & dad with the good news. In some classes, we share out the good news in front of the class. I may put the form in their folders to share at a parent conference or for the students to see at the end of the year. Then, when I catch someone doing something nice, working hard, or going out of their way - I fill in the details on a form. I can customize it to have our school name and my name on the form. I've used these forms in a variety of ways. Here is a template to customize 3 positive forms: Good Kid Notice form, Caught Ya Bein' Good form, and Positive Actions form. Everyone is happy to know that their good actions are being noticed and to feel a bit of praise.

When you catch students being good, you share the good feelings with them. But building a good classroom community involves focusing on positive interactions.
#POSITIVE ACTIONS HOW TO#
Have you caught some of your students doing good? Many times students hear all about what they are doing wrong or how to correct their behavior.
